The project, located in Shaoxing City, is nestled next to Didang Lake and surrounded on three sides by the serene water body. The club house is divided into two parts: a swimming pool and fitness centre on the ground floor, and a celebrity hall on the second floor, where people can enjoy tea and the picturesque scenery.
The design of Lakeside City draws its inspiration from the Lanting gathering, a tradition that has been passed down in Shaoxing for thousands of years. This gathering, where people come together to drink wine and write poems, reflects the rich cultural heritage of the city. The club house, with its modern oriental aesthetics, aims to recreate this elegant atmosphere.
Kris Lin, the design director, and Anda Yang, applied traditional Chinese architectural elements such as wooden grilles and screens to refine the classic beauty of the space. The building and the landscape borrow the scenery to create a pure, open, and elegant atmosphere. As sunlight passes through the architectural grid, it creates a play of light and shadow that accompanies the flow of time, recording the interweaving interaction of time and space.
The project, which spans an area of 2650 square meters, started in August 2019 and was completed in May 2020. The biggest challenge faced by the design team was to use modern design techniques to create a Chinese club that reflects the city's rich cultural heritage. However, with their creativity and expertise, they were able to overcome this challenge and create a space that is truly unique and inspiring.
The Lakeside City club house is not just a space for recreation, but also a testament to the city's history and culture. It is a place where people can come together, enjoy the beauty of nature, and engage in activities that have been a part of Shaoxing's tradition for thousands of years. With its modern design and traditional elements, Lakeside City is a perfect example of how architecture can bridge the gap between the past and the present.
